Does any of this sound familiar?

Different things bring women to coaching. You might recognise yourself in one of these.

Something that keeps happening.

A pattern in how you respond, decide or relate to people — one you'd like to understand, not just manage again next time.

Something you're in the middle of.

A decision, a change, a transition — something you want to think through properly, with someone who can help you see it clearly.

Something harder to name.

Not a specific problem yet — more a sense that some part of your life is worth looking at more closely.

CLIENT STORY

One example of what this can look like

Jenny came to coaching as a mum of two and a full-time teacher, feeling stretched thin and unsure where to start. Her experience is one example of how individual coaching can develop when the work begins with what's happening for that particular person.

“Maria has helped me feel so empowered to support myself and focus on what I really needed to focus on, through even just a short few sessions I saw a massive improvement in myself and my outlook on things.”
— Jenny Cooke, Teacher & Mum of Two

What this work can make possible

You might arrive with a clear question, or only a sense that something needs attention. Either way, what you bring shapes where the work goes. The specifics are yours, but some kinds of change come up again and again.

Seeing what's been shaping things

Patterns in how you respond, relate, decide or see yourself start to make sense: what shapes them and what keeps them in place. That understanding often opens up options that weren't visible before.

Clarity on what you actually think

Decisions and transitions become less tangled once you've separated your own view from the expectations and noise around it.

An honest read on what's yours to change

Some of what feels hard is a pattern you can shift. Some of it is simply too much. Telling the difference changes what you work on, and what you stop blaming yourself for.

Introducing

 1:1 Transformational Coaching

Working together goes further than setting goals and tracking progress. We look closely at what's actually going on for you: the assumptions you're working from, what you expect of yourself and others, what matters to you, and how all of that shapes the way a situation looks from where you're standing.

Sometimes seeing something differently changes what you do. Sometimes it changes what you want, or what you're willing to keep carrying. Often it's a mix, and it rarely happens in a straight line.

The work might involve how you relate to people, a decision you keep circling, the values you want to live by, the expectations on you, or the circumstances around you. We follow what's relevant to you, not a set curriculum. I draw on psychology, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment approaches and transformational coaching, using whatever fits what's in front of us.

Wherever you're starting from, the first step is a conversation.

What happens in a session...

You bring whatever feels most pressing or most present that day. Sometimes it's a specific situation. Sometimes it's harder to pin down, and working out what the real question is becomes part of the session.

Talking something through with someone you trust can be valuable. Coaching offers something different: we slow the conversation down and look more closely at what you keep coming back to, the assumptions behind a worry, and what may be shaping a reaction or decision.

Depending on what comes up, a session might involve:

  • Looking at a situation from angles you hadn't considered
  • Questioning an assumption you've been treating as fact
  • Recognising a pattern you've seen play out before, and what tends to drive it
  • Working out what actually matters to you in a decision
  • Identifying a practical next step, when that's what's needed

Some sessions end with something clear. Others leave you with a better question to take away. Both are part of the work.

Is this the right kind of support?

This is likely to suit you if you:

  • Want to work with what's actually going on for you, rather than a set curriculum
  • Are open to reflecting and questioning things you've assumed, even if you're not sure yet what you'll find
  • Want to understand something more deeply — a decision, a relationship, a pattern, a transition — rather than be handed an answer
  • Are dealing with self-doubt, competing expectations, or something that keeps recurring
  • Want real change, even without a clear picture yet of what needs to change

You may be better supported elsewhere if you're looking for:

  • Diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition
  • Trauma treatment or support during a crisis
  • Specialist clinical care
  • Someone to tell you exactly what to do
  • Practical parenting strategies or advice

FAQ

What might become possible

Maybe it's something that keeps happening and you'd like to finally understand why. Maybe it's a decision you can't quite see clearly yet, or a way of responding you'd like to have more choice about. Coaching gives you the space and the company to work that out.
